Residual stress from aversive pressure. After a dog has been put under pressure they have generalized the pressure to different situations and may be generally inhibited for an amount of time. In minor situations it can help as they refrain from some behaviors, but it can also hinder us as we work on other active behaviors. Dogs that are severely punished are often severely inhibited. In other instances, a dog with generalized inhibition will exhibit decreased confidence and increased anxiety.
