An emotional response that results from Classical Conditioning. Productive CERs are the primary goal of Classical Conditioning. We want dogs to have good CERs about situations, and pieces of training hardware. A good CER is the happiest end-goal of Counterconditioning, though a neutral response can be acceptable too. Bad CERs are troublesome and lay at the root of many behavior problems. Lessons learned under stress usually stick harder and faster than those learned under pleasant stimuli.
