Simpawtico’s Virtual Basic Training Class is perfect for folks who want to get involved with our dog training, but perhaps cannot because of being out-of-area, or social distancing concerns. If you have a dog that has never taken a class before, or who needs to brush up on rusty skills, this is for you! Modern, innovative techniques move beyond simple lure-reward training and capitalize on several approaches. Conducted via Zoom, you’ll be able to see us demonstrate and explain, then turn around and run guided practice! We’ll comment, coach, and create an atmosphere of encouragement right in your living room.

Class recordings will be downloadable for a week after each class so you can review class activities!
Class notes, videos, and PDF support through your email after every class so you can analyze, scrutinize, and share with the family in deeper detail with greater clarity!
Live coaching from your instructor during the breakout sessions so you can learn like you were in-person!

Here’s What We’ll Cover

MASTER KEYS for communication, attention, motivation, and focus.
The control positions: Sit, Lie Down, and Stand
Auto-Sits and Sit for Petting (essential if you have a jumper!)
Stay, Come, and Follow (the basics of household etiquette!)
Loose Leash Walking from the beginning to the neighborhood
Leave it and Take it (great for things you drop in the kitchen or find in the yard!)

Ian is the most knowledgeable and articulate trainer I have ever met. He cares deeply about making sure you understand his approach and welcomes all questions. He also cares deeply for the dogs. He is able to size them up in minutes and provide many opportunities for you to create a bond with your dog and provide you with the tools to create a wonderful companionship with your pet. Truly hard to say anything more but he motivates my dog and I with this infectious, playful, patient interaction that has spread to my entire family!

Last night was Hailey's first night at "school". While she was a bit overwhelmed and wanted to just run and play, Ian was able to simply just walk over to her, and talk to her, and she would just melt at his feet, so to speak. He has a way with dogs that I have never seen before. EVERY dog in the class responded to him and did exactly as he requested of them. He loves dogs, you can tell and the dogs can tell. Now if we could only get Ian to come live here, Hailey would be excellent! Great guy, great place, excellent trainer!

Need to know:

Age: for all dogs 10 weeks of age or older.

Tech Requirements: This class is conducted via Zoom. There is no additional cost to you. You can access the class on any device, although we recommend a desktop or laptop computer. The Zoom web browser client will download automatically when you start or join your first Zoom meeting, and is also available for manual download here.

Length and Fee:

Fee is $97 for six consecutive weekly Zoom sessions, unless a break is mentioned.

Each session is approximately 50 minutes and will meet on the same day and time each week via Zoom. A minimum of 3 dogs is required to run a class.
