DOCUMENTING THE JOURNEY

The road to getting my CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed) certificate from the CCPDT has been a long one! So I thought it would be fun to document the final stretch leading up to it. A little mini-documentary, if you will.

AN ANNOUNCEMENT TOO!

I also wanted to take the chance to kick off Simpawtico’s new VLOG series! In a nutshell, this video kicks of the vlog, meaning that regular video content will start coming to you starting in May! I’ve worked really hard to pull this together. I’m excited about all the things I’m going to start bringing to you soon! Take a look at the YouTube channel HERE!

A million hugs and thank yous to my family, friends, and students that have been so supportive and encouraging. I couldn’t do it without you all!

    Hi!
I am a dog trainer in Michigan that is currently studying for the CPDT-KA and I was wondering what study methods you used for your test?

    • Hi Devon! Mainly I read many of the books on the CCPDT’s recommended reading list. That veterinary guide was on that list (although after taking the test it was seriously overkill). I’ve also always been one to attend lectures and watch DVDs voraciously. One thing I did was zero in on the areas I felt weak in and then write my own practice tests. Then I’d periodically pop onto the CCPDT website and try their sample questions. I guess once I’d aced a couple of their practice tests I felt like I was ready. I wish I could tell you more than that. You either feel like you know your stuff or you don’t. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
