The conversion of a socially unacceptable behavior into a more socially acceptable one. The attempt from dogs to sublimate natural behaviors to ones that humans find more acceptable is the underlying cause of some behavior problems such as jumping on guests. As owners and trainers we can nudge this conversion into other behaviors that are acceptable and healthy for both parties.
