Unlike many dog sports out there, any dog can learn to do Nosework. The slow movers, the shorties, the skinny-minis, the snorty-farty-wrinkly guys…they can all participate! And of course, our high-drive athletic friends are welcome too!

This fascinating and fun activity is wonderful for dogs who need more mental and physical stimulation. You’ll learn new ways to communicate with your dog as you work through simple search and locate activities. We’ll start building drive, teaching a search pattern, and get your dog motivated to work through odor puzzles. Your dog will progress to targeted odors with more challenging search patterns. New reward structures are introduced and you’ll develop a deeper level of communication together.

This is one of those rare activities where your dog gets to run the show!

We use proven methods in our Nosework Lab to teach, train, and have a blast doing it. You’ll leave with a smile on your face and a tired pooch! All breeds and ages welcome!

Need to know:

Age: 19 weeks of age or older.

Prerequisites: 

• Basic public manners are required. Overly reactive and/or aggressive dogs will not be allowed in class.
• Sessions with multiple dogs will require that dogs are crate trained as dogs will be kenneled while others work. “There’s no nose-to-nose in Nosework!”

Gear:

• Dogs will require a body harness (not a front-hook for walking). We recommend one that you only use for searching as this will condition them to rev up to search. Contact us for recommendations.
• You will also need a long line, 10′-20′ in length. You can bring your own or purchase one from us.

Vaccines: Rabies and vaccines must be up to date.

Length and Fee: This class is $120 for six sessions. Currently this is class is being beta-tested and is only available as private sessions.
