Attachment Theory, developed by psychologist John Bowlby, explains how different kinds of attachment styles can form in early relationships with caregivers. It also suggests that these attachment styles will continue to shape how an organism interacts with others throughout their life. Attachment theory outlines four categories of attachment: secure, ambivalent, avoidant, and disorganized. These styles determine how connected an organism feels to those around them and how they respond to new relationships.
