A pressure technique we avoid as much as possible where pushing or pulling with our hands on the dog’s body is used to induce a behavior. A classic example of this is pushing on the butt to get a dog to sit. While physical prompting seems to work in the short term, this usually creates dependency and precludes distance training. We always work to control dogs with our voice and our brains, and work hands-free as much as possible.
