The system for using a lure to teach behaviors quickly. The more fluent a dog is with targeting a lure and the more motivated they are to access the reward, the faster behaviors can be taught in this manner. Lure-Reward Training follows the ABC pattern: Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence. We simplify this to become RRR: Request, Response, Reward. This is the science of dog training. Request and Response have a classically conditioned relationship; response and reward have an operantly conditioned relationship. The Lure fits into the model between request and response, and so Lure Reward Training is a 1234 process no matter what you’re trying to teach in this manner: 1) Request, 2) Lure, 3) Response, 4) Reward.
